Childrens eye care

Research has show all children should have an eye examination with a registered Optometrist before they start primary School and on a regular basis thereafter. This ensures that your child’s visual development is normal and their eyes remain healthy. A Childs visual system development is complete after the age of 7-8 years so early treatment for conditions such as lazy eye and squint is critical.

Our Optometrists have many ways of examining your child’s eyes to ensure they are healthy and developing normally. We can examine children from the age of 2 years. They do not need to be able to read letters for us to obtain accurate results. Fortunately for the majority of children no treatment is required, however if there is a problem with your Child’s eyes the Optometrist will advise you of the appropriate treatment and prognosis.

Remember all children’s eye examinations are FREE at Eye 2 Eye Opticians under the NHS. If spectacles are required we have a free range available under the NHS spectacle voucher scheme.
